Tips from CodePath Career Peers!

  1. One simple networking trick that has worked for me is traveling in school gear. It’s an easy conversation starter that has led to meeting lots of alum in different places….
  2. My backpack usually has my notepad, physical copies of resume (at least 10), my iPad.. laptop is a bit much for conferences for me because everything is on my G-drive.
  3. Practice that elevator pitch! There’ll be a lot of impromptu networking so you want to stay ready .
  4. Follow the official hashtags and social media activities for the conference. Lot of companies will be dropping QR codes and more.
  5. Lastly, have fun and explore. It’s totally fine if you don’t get to connect with all companies on your list. If you get an interview on the spot, best of luck!

Have a portable charger as you will be scanning a lot of links and connecting with people on LinkedIn. I would advise that you make your LinkedIn QR code your lock screen wallpaper all though the conference so that it is easily accessible.

From my past experience attending conferences, the one thing I always enjoyed were the panel and speaking sessions. They were very informative and most of them were hands on. So I would advise going over the agenda and bookmark the ones you would love to attend. Honestly in my opinion, attending the sessions are a great break from the Career Fair!
