❓ What is a Career Trek?

A Company Trek is a professional event where participants visit a company's office or campus to gain insights into its work culture, business operations, and industry positioning, and are normally sponsored by a Career Center or other parntering organization.

Company Treks can also sometimes be called Site Visits, Company Visits, Career Expeditions, or Professional Treks.

This event offers a unique opportunity to engage with company representatives, learn about career opportunities, and understand the company's values/culture and strategic objectives.

Company Treks can take on many different forms, but most often include an office tour, a presentation or panel discussion, and a networking session. If hosted off-site, it may be a fun event in tandem with the company’s summer interns or team members.

💼 Why should I attend a Career Trek?

🤝 Networking

Career treks are great opportunities to network with industry professionals, and to meet your CodePath peers. Your network is your net worth! To find more tips on how to effectively network, see the Career Fairs, Networking, Treks page!

💻 Recruitment

In addition to the inherent benefits of Networking, often times special recruitment sign-up links are shared at career treks, which offer the potential for exclusive application links or ability to be tagged to a company’s event: meaning you are more likely to be highlighted for next steps of the hiring process.

⛏️ Deepen your Knowledge

Attending a Career Trek offers the potential for insight into recruitment processes, information about various career opportunities as well as details of what the job would entail, and direct connection to recruiting points of contact. The information shared can give you an edge in being selected for recruitment, and an advantage if selected to interview with the company. Career Treks are also a great way to determine if a career field matches your personal interest, values, skills, and goals.
